Success & Sadness

This has been a great running week. I have been able to make up most of the missed miles. Only 6.11 to go. With another fair weather week, it will be done.

On Tuesday, we received word that a friend had fallen on Friday and was taken to the hospital. Testing had identified that he had leukemia and only had a couple weeks to live. He passed away last night. One week after finding out that he had the disease. What a shock!

This experience reaffirms one of the reasons I run....because I CAN!!! I have a perfectly healthy body which I am so grateful for. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Larsen family.

Low Low Low

Just when I thought I would be right at the numbers of miles I should be, I'm not. This turned out to be a low mileage week. On Monday, a friend asked Ron if we would like to do concessions for the snowmachine hill climb on Friday and Saturday. He hadn't been able to find anyone that would do it. We talked with the girls and they were game so we went into the fast food business for a couple days. As you can see from the picture, we were up to our ankles in mud. On Saturday, we got smart and put down what little cardboard we had from boxes and that helped a lot. I put in a lot of miles those two days but not running...pacing back and forth with orders.
It's not a problem though. I will get it made up.

Join the Running Group

I have set up a group called 1000 miles at http://www.runorgy.com/. Please join the group and let's log some miles together. I know the name of the website is not exactly what you expect for a running site but it is the only spot I could find to set up a group. Focus on the group!

Wow! Turning 50 in 2009 will be monumental. I'm going to celebrate by running 1000 miles this year. This blog is to track my progress and for you to give encouragement. Maybe you'll want to join me for a few miles.
