We went to see Tel & Sadie in Carlsbad and I found a race to run in Roswell while we were there. They have an active runners club and have a race about every 6 weeks or so. There were three length categories 20k, 10k, 2 mile. The race director said they have started doing two milers because it's something different and a little easier for those getting started.

I ran the 10k. It was a flat course compared to what I'm used to running. The Soda Screamer Half was great preparation for it. It made this seem so easy.

It was a great day for me. I got a PR 9.08 pace, 59:17 time earning 1st place in the 50-59 women's age group. Whoot! Whoot! Running in New Mexico was fabulous. Low elevation, just right temps made it so fun. I hated to leave. Carlsbad has a beautiful running path and park areas along the Pecos River. We all walked/ran along it. I'm impressed with communities that care for the well being of the citizens and provide areas to exercise, relax and rejuvenate.

Weekly Total: 17.41 Grand Total 911.87Lorrainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07225514099840174111noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1385787589543876000.post-24638029587345936742009-11-01T16:05:00.006-07:002009-11-03T08:34:52.651-07:00Soda Screamer Half Marathon

Oh what fun it is to run in the snow! I ran 10 this morning and it was very crisp when I started but just right when I finished. What a great time and place to be alive! This month has gone so quickly. The running has been easy and enjoyable. I'm actually 20 miles ahead of schedule. That feels good considering that the weatherman is predicting snow for next week. I'm not ready for that yet.

Some friends are putting together a half marathon here in Soda. The Soda Screamer-Oct. 30 7:30 a.m. It will be a fun run. Low key! What an exciting few weeks it has been here. Wedding, Wedding, Wedding mostly and some work and worry about the Verizon deal. The wedding was a great success. We think Tel & Sadie make a great couple. We also found out that we made the short list for Verizon and I mean short...They will be keeping our 4 stores and 2 in Jerome/Gooding area. The rest of the agents in Idaho will not have the opportunity to make the switch. I'm very grateful we have the chance. I'm also very grateful to be able to run. It helps me keep things sorted out.

My goal was to be caught up with my mileage before the wedding and I did it, actually a week early. I was able to put in some weeks of 30-35 miles so that really helped. That is a relief.

Weekly Total 20.31 Grand Total 673.86Lorrainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07225514099840174111noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1385787589543876000.post-30299659373748627352009-08-09T16:19:00.004-06:002009-08-09T16:24:00.115-06:00BOY DO I FEEL GOOD!!!In the words of my beloved father "Boy do I feel good!"

Good Weather, Good Mileage, Good Times.......thus the feel good!

Weekly Total 32.06 Grand Total 580.83Lorrainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07225514099840174111noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1385787589543876000.post-9024151459751709832009-07-26T19:06:00.007-06:002009-07-27T14:37:14.196-06:00Keep It UP!
var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? The month of July started out a little rocky. I had so much fun at Cedar Badge that it took me a couple weeks to recover. My running was not as consistent as needed but alas all things pass and I am back at full speed.

I was able to log some extra miles the last couple weeks and I'm almost back on track. It's a reminder to me how easy it is to get off track in so many things in our lives if we aren't vigilant in the daily pursuit of our quest. Health, wealth, knowledge, etc.

I loved being able to run in 8 mile this weekend while attending the Herd reunion. We live in a beautiful area. I'm grateful to have the physical capacities to get out and enjoy it.
Keep up the good work.....one day at a time :)

Weekly Total 28.52 Grand Total 548.77Lorrainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07225514099840174111noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1385787589543876000.post-32398355740491455072009-06-28T17:49:00.009-06:002009-06-30T12:09:41.872-06:00Is June really over?
Wow this month has gone by so quickly. My running has gone very well. I was able to bank a few miles to have a cushion for this past week. Ron and I have spent the week at Treasure Mountain Scout Camp with a group of 17 boys and girls ages 14-18 at a Cedar Badge Kodiak Trek. We spent the week hiking, rappelling, rafting, tearing out a buck and pole fence and doing some team building activities. We had a great time and were very grateful for the break in weather. Ron and I both jumped off a 25 foot pole at Badger Creek. It was a little unnerving but we both did it. This week has been a reality check. On Monday, we went hiking with the Huntsman's to Lower Palisades Lake. It was about 9 miles and was a lovely hike. Not too steep.... but come about Wednesday, I was suffering from a tight muscle in my bum. You know the one that pinches your sciatic nerve when it gets tight. I had to cut down my mileage and even walked with Ron a day because it was hurting too much. But, Tel got me lined out with a deep stretch that did the trick to loosen that up.

Then yesterday I spent the day planting the garden, digging in the flowers, etc. for about 12 hours. Lots of bending and squats. Oh my, I was stiff this morning. Today I was grateful for being able to sit and not have to get up too often.

Moral of the story.... I guess I'm not as fit as I think.

Weekly Total 17.31 Grand Total 423.59Lorrainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07225514099840174111noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1385787589543876000.post-77186723776274800942009-05-24T20:38:00.002-06:002009-05-24T20:58:32.038-06:00WaHOOO!!!!400 miles! I remember several times being knocked to the ground by dogs that I was sure were going to eat me. Thankfully I lived through that and actually don't remember even being bitten. However, I continue to have great concern when I see dogs running the streets. On every run, I have an ongoing prayer that all dogs will be leashed, fenced, still asleep or that I become silent and invisible.

On my run yesterday, there were a couple dogs, I think they were gold heelers...they looked like blue heelers only yellow, anyway, they came after me. I turned on them and told them to get back. They slowed down but kept barking and coming towards me. I had to get out my courage and angry Mom voice and run towards them to get them to leave me alone. It took a couple minutes of stand off, stare down and who's toughest to finally win. They went back towards a house behind a fence. Whew! Another successful run. Yeah!!

I'm always grateful for a dog free run and being protected if they are around.

Weekly Total 20.07 Grand Total 255.32Lorrainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07225514099840174111noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1385787589543876000.post-23380640418817502332009-03-30T08:01:00.004-06:002009-03-30T08:19:11.212-06:00Spring in IdahoUgh! A time to evaluate what is really important. As I sat in 3 of the 4 funerals this week, it made me wonder what people will say about me when I'm gone. It made a complete loop around the ship, unless it was too windy and rainy and then the upper portion was closed. There were also two sets of stairs so that added to the workout. Good times! With another fair weather week, it will be done.

On Tuesday, we received word that a friend had fallen on Friday and was taken to the hospital. This turned out to be a low mileage week. On Monday, a friend asked Ron if we would like to do concessions for the snowmachine hill climb on Friday and Saturday. He hadn't been able to find anyone that would do it. We talked with the girls and they were game so we went into the fast food business for a couple days. As you can see from the picture, we were up to our ankles in mud. On Saturday, we got smart and put down what little cardboard we had from boxes and that helped a lot. I put in a lot of miles those two days but not running...pacing back and forth with orders.
It's not a problem though.
