The Pecos Valley Roundup was a race in Roswell, New Mexico. We went to see Tel & Sadie in Carlsbad and I found a race to run in Roswell while we were there. They have an active runners club and have a race about every 6 weeks or so. There were three length categories 20k, 10k, 2 mile. The race director said they have started doing two milers because it's something different and a little easier for those getting started.
I ran the 10k. It was a flat course compared to what I'm used to running. The Soda Screamer Half was great preparation for it. It made this seem so easy.
It was a great day for me. I got a PR 9.08 pace, 59:17 time earning 1st place in the 50-59 women's age group. Whoot! Whoot! Running in New Mexico was fabulous. Low elevation, just right temps made it so fun. I hated to leave. Carlsbad has a beautiful running path and park areas along the Pecos River. We all walked/ran along it. I'm impressed with communities that care for the well being of the citizens and provide areas to exercise, relax and rejuvenate.
